How Great is Our God ~!~!~!~!~

It was very quiet at work yesterday and “How Great is Our God” by Chris Tomlin was playing.  All of a sudden I almost started crying! I couldn’t do anything but stop what I was doing and take it in.  I haven’t had one of those moments in a while.  I needed it.  Our God is GREAT!!!

Enjoy The Silence!

Sarah is at The Masquerade in Atlanta watching “The Spinto Band” (whoever that is).   Mason is snuggled into bed surrounded by an army of stuffed animals.    Nat is 300 miles away in his part-time hometown of Savannah.    Our cat, Bella, is napping on the sofa taking a much needed break from her Ninja training.    Pippin and Angus are in the basement most likely chewing on my favorite pair of shoes.  The only noise in the house is from the keys on the keyboard as I type…..

And I am enjoying the silence!

We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.

Mason…

Mason is my answered prayer.  Every time I look into his eyes I am reminded of how awesome our God truly is.

As you know, I have 2 stepchildren – Sarah and Logan.  After Logan was born, Nat made the decision to not have anymore children.  When Nat asked me to marry him, I had to ask myself a very serious question? Could I be happy not having any children of my own?

My answer was yes because I loved Nat and his children.  I knew that I was meant to be a part of their family.  I knew that I needed them just as much as they needed me.  We married in March of 1996 and moved to Warner Robins a couple months later.  We enjoyed spending weekends and holidays with the kids.  We enjoyed the time we had to ourselves as well.

I was extremely happy, but still their seemed to be something missing.  I started realizing that I still had that desire to have my own child.  Nat and I looked into having his surgery “reversed”.  We found out that it cost over $10,000.  We had no means of coming up with that kind of money! Even if we did, their was no guarantee it would work.  So I just gave it to God and accepted that I would not have children.  Then I put it out of my mind.

Several months later, a man that Nat works with walked up behind him at work and held out his hand over Nat’s shoulder.  In his hand was a check made out to Nat for $11,000!  He said that God spoke to him and told him to give Nat and I the money.  WOW!!! Emotional Moment!! We graciously accepted it with the intent of paying it back. However, he would not allow us to do so.  Amazing!!!

Nat had the surgery. Within 4 months we found out we were going to have a baby, and on February 23rd 1999, My little blessing was delivered.  He was perfect! I still think he is!

He looks just like me, but in every other area he is completely unique!  He has brought us so much joy.  He is a constant reminder that God sees the desires of our hearts and provides for them.  He has provided over and over for us.

I truly believe that God has something special for Mason to accomplish.  He loves God with all his heart and soul. He is an amazing child!  I am so blessed to be his mom!

Sarah Grace…

Sarah Grace Kelly … Such a fitting name for her. Sarah means Princess, so she would be Princess Grace Kelly. Sound Familiar? She was actually named after a Hall and Oates song – “Sarah Smile”. And her Great Grandmothers name was “Grace”. (Sarah was my grandmothers name as well ; )

Sarah was born October 15, 1988 to Nat and Kelly. Yes, her mom’s name was Kelly Kelly. Cute huh? Sarah has a little sister, Audrey, who tells everyone i’m her stepmom too.

When I met Sarah, she was 6 years old and adorable!! She always had on a cute little skirt and tights and had her hair pulled up like Pebbles. I remember the first time she, Nat and I went out to eat together. She sat across the table from us and was trying her best to say something. Nat kept saying “hold on” and we kept talking. A few moments later, she disappeared under the table and all we saw were 2 hand puppets. She was saying “Their once was a boy named Nat and a girl named Tonya. And they talked, and talked, and talked…..” It was hilarious.

Well, she was in Kindergarten then. Now she is a Junior in College!! We have been through a lot together in those 13 years. Most of my best memories include Sarah Grace. We’ve been on some crazy road trips. I’ve chaperoned a few John Mayer concerts and birthday parties at Hard Rock Cafe. I got to be a “cheer mom” when she was in middle school. I’ve been her chauffeur and she has been my confidant.

I honestly don’t know what i’d do without Sarah. She makes me want to be a better person. She’s great!! I’m so glad God put her in my life!!

If…….no, WHEN she moves to England, I guess i’ll have to go with her!

Logan……….

If you’ve never had the priviledge of meeting Logan – you are missing out.   He has made me laugh and he has made me cry.  But I love him as if he were my own son.  He was only 1 year old when I met him, so I have known him almost his entire life.  He was the cutest little boy I have ever seen.  He is now 15 yrs old and he is still just as cute.  He started 9th grade this year at Cass High School.

Logan was born to Nat and Stephanie on July 5, 1993.  He has a total of 5 brothers and sisters. Logan, Kayla, Micah, and Allie all have the same mom.  Logan, Sarah and Mason all have the same dad.  Kayla’s life was sadly taken around age 6 by a cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma before Logan was born.

Logan loves to fish.  He wakes up ready to go to the river, lake or any fishing hole he can find.  He’s also very much into skateboarding.   He is the most vivacious person I’ve ever met.  He never sits still.

He has a heart of gold, but sometimes just can’t figure out where it’s leading him.  Right now he has decided to live with his grandparents.  I know they will take care of him.  I just hope that he knows how much we all love him.

Hopefully, you will get a chance to get to know Logan one day.  I can’t imagine what my life would be without him.  Everything we have been through has been worth it just to have been a part of his life.

Please keep him in your prayers!! Thanks.

Family….

“We are a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.  ~Erma Bombeck

I thought i’d talk about my family today.  It’s just a typical American family, but i’m pretty proud of it.  I was married to my husband, Nat, on March 9, 1996. He is absolutely the most wonderful man i’ve ever met.  By the way, he arrived in Germany today.  Praise God for a safe journey there.

We were blessed with an adorable baby boy, Mason, 9 years ago.   In 1993, Nat became the proud father of Logan Kelly.  And, last but certainly not least-Sarah Grace was born in October of 1988.

Sarah, Logan and Mason are all blessed to have Nat as their Dad.  Mason is the only one that gets to claim me as Mom.  Logan actually calls me mom though most of the time.  Sarah has never called me mom but we have a very special relationship.  In fact, my best friend Lori swears that Sarah is my favorite.  It’s strange how you can love 3 children equal but different.  They all have such unique personalities.  Other than God, they are the most important things in my life.  I think i’ll take time the next few days to tell you more about them.

If you haven’t told your kids you love them today, now would be a good time to do it.  And give them a hug too!!
